How cobra killed teacher inside crumbling Abuja school

The village chief of Jamigbe community in Gawu Ward, Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), HRH Alhaji Danladi Aliyu, has narrated how Usman Mohammed, the head teacher of the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School in the community, died after being attacked by a venomous snake. Aliyu said the incident occurred when the snake reportedly entered the headmaster’s office through a crack in the wall and hid under a chair before striking the victim as he arrived to open the office.

According to the traditional ruler, the head teacher had just resumed work that morning and was preparing to sit when the cobra attacked him. He was rushed for medical attention but was pronounced dead a few hours later. Aliyu attributed the tragic incident to the poor and dilapidated condition of the school’s infrastructure, which he said exposed staff and pupils to serious safety risks.
