United States Congressman, Rep. Riley Moore, has said the United States is committed to working with Nigeria to ensure that all Nigerians can live and practise their faith without fear of persecution or death. Moore made the remarks in a post on his verified X handle on Saturday while commenting on ongoing security cooperation between both countries.
Reacting to the establishment of a U.S.–Nigeria Working Group, Moore described the initiative as a necessary step to deepen coordination in tackling security challenges, promoting religious freedom and countering violent extremism. He said the collaboration presents Nigeria with an opportunity to strengthen ties with the United States, combat terrorism in the northern states and the Middle Belt, end the persecution of Christians and enhance its role as a stabilising force in the region. Moore added that the agreement demonstrates Nigeria’s seriousness in addressing security concerns and reflects a joint commitment by both nations to protect religious freedom for all citizens.
