Ekiti 2026: Parties to cough up ₦60m before posters hit streets

The Ekiti State Signage and Advertisement Agency (EKSAA) has announced that political parties participating in the June 20 governorship election will be required to pay campaign signage and advertisement fees before displaying posters or other campaign materials across the state. The agency said a total of 12 political parties are expected to pay ₦5 million each, amounting to ₦600 million, as part of efforts to enforce approved fees and regulate the erection and display of political and commercial signage in Ekiti State.

The Director-General of EKSAA, Mr. Adebisi Adesua, disclosed this during an audience-participatory simulcast programme, Ekiti Today, on Wednesday. He said the enforcement would cover billboards, streetlight poles, posters, vehicle branding, and other forms of outdoor advertising, in line with existing state laws. Adesua explained that the policy is aimed at curbing illegal signage, promoting orderliness, and supporting safe and visually appealing urban development, adding that the fee covers the entire campaign period across all local governments, wards, and Local Council Development Areas in the state.
