A 45-year-old man identified as Pascal has allegedly defiled a 10-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl multiple times at Christ Apostolic Street, Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State. The incidents came to light after the victims’ parents Mrs. Ada, mother of the boy, and Mr. Alex, father of the girl filed a formal complaint with the Nkpolu-Oroworhwukwo Police Division, prompting an ongoing investigation and the issuance of medical examination forms for the children. According to Mr. Prince Wiro, National Coordinator of the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign (CBRPAC), the suspect, a friend and former neighbor of the girl’s father, had been abusing the girl since she was 10, sneaking into the family home during the father’s work hours or taking her to his residence at Pipeline axis, Egbelu; meanwhile, the boy’s mother discovered the abuse after her son complained of pains in his private part, revealing that Pascal had been defiling him for the past six months. When contacted by telephone, the suspect stated that he is already settling the matter with the father of the 11-year-old child, questioned who reported the matter to journalists, requested the phone number of the boy’s mother, and added that he was ready to settle with the victims’ parents. At press time, police had not officially commented on the development.
