No fewer than 11 passengers have been confirmed dead and seven others injured in a fatal road accident that occurred on Saturday along the Benin–Asaba highway in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident on Tuesday.
The Sector Commander of the FRSC in the state, Cyril Mathew, said the crash involved an 18-seater commercial bus travelling towards Lagos, which attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. He added that the impact of the collision resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, with the injured victims taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
