Outrage trails alleged forced APC registration of Enugu LG workers

A controversy has erupted in Enugu State following allegations that the Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Jude Asogwa, directed council workers to compulsorily register with the All Progressives Congress (APC). The allegation was made on Monday by a social media influencer, Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, who, in a Facebook post, described the reported directive as a violation of workers’ rights and freedom of conscience.

According to Ugwuanyi, both teaching and non-teaching staff in Nsukka LGA were allegedly instructed to report to Adada Hall for APC electronic registration, with a mandate to present their National Identification Number (NIN), voter cards and bank account details. He claimed the exercise was described as compulsory and was accompanied by implied threats of job loss, intimidation and victimisation for workers who failed to comply. Ugwuanyi also shared a message purportedly sent to head teachers, directing schools to ensure staff attendance in batches from 9am to prevent pupils from being left unattended.
