FG files criminal charge against Ozekhome over alleged forgery in UK property case

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has filed a criminal charge against Mike Ozekhome, SAN, over allegations bordering on fraud in relation to a London property.

The federal government has filed a three-count criminal charge against Mike Ozekhome, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), over alleged forgery and use of false documents in connection with a disputed property in the United Kingdom. The charge, marked FCT/HC/CR/010/2026, was filed on Friday before a federal high court in Abuja by prosecutors from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on behalf of the attorney-general of the federation. Ozekhome is accused of knowingly presenting forged documents, including a Nigerian international passport, to support his claim of ownership of a property located at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2 7SX, during proceedings before the London First-Tier Tribunal.

According to the charge sheet, the alleged offences giving false information, use of forged documents, and attempting to deceive a public authority were committed in August 2021 within the jurisdiction of the FCT high court. The federal government listed several witnesses, including investigators and a representative of the Nigerian Immigration Service, and said documents to be tendered include the judgment of the First-tier Tribunal, extra-judicial statements, and passport data. The case is yet to be assigned a trial date, while the controversy centres on rival claims to the London property, which the UK tribunal reportedly ruled involved false identities and dismissed all claims.
