Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has disclosed his plans for the Nigerian national team should the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) decide to retain him after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. Chelle, who was appointed in January 2025, led Nigeria to the semi-finals of the tournament before the team suffered a defeat to host nation Morocco and will now face Egypt in the third-place playoff scheduled for Saturday evening.
Speaking at his pre-match interview, the Malian tactician said he would strengthen the squad by introducing new players if given the opportunity to continue in the role. “If God gives me the chance to be the coach after this tournament, I’ve to bring some players,” Chelle said. He added, “My dream is to have twenty-two players, and all of them can take on the opposition. There is a lot of work to achieve that.”
