Bobi Wine, Uganda’s leading opposition figure, has said he narrowly escaped arrest after soldiers and police raided his residence in Magere. The incident occurred amid heightened political tension as Wine seeks the presidency for a second term against long-serving President Yoweri Museveni.
In a statement posted on X, the opposition leader said security operatives cut off electricity, disabled some CCTV cameras and deployed helicopters over the area during the raid. Describing the night as “very difficult,” Wine said he managed to evade arrest and was not at home at the time of the operation.
