Anthony Joshua returns to training after tragic car crash

Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has returned to training just 19 days after surviving a car crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates. Joshua was involved in the accident on December 29 along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, which resulted in the deaths of his personal trainer, Kevin Latif Ayodele, and his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami. The incident had raised concerns about his health and boxing future, despite reports that he sustained only minor injuries.

On Friday, Joshua shared footage on Instagram showing him hitting pads with a trainer, captioned “Mental Strength Therapy,” suggesting a tentative return to physical activity. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, had earlier said the former world champion would be given all the time he needed to grieve and recover, noting that Joshua would require space to heal physically, mentally and emotionally before deciding on his future in the sport.
