Kidnappers release five women in Kogi community after ₦12m ransom, three still held

Five women abducted from Olle-Bunu community in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have regained their freedom after residents raised and paid a ₦12 million ransom. SaharaReporters gathered that the victims were released on Friday after days of negotiations involving community representatives and the kidnappers. The ransom was raised through contributions from families, community leaders, and concerned residents.

Despite the release, three other abducted persons remain in captivity, raising concerns over their safety. Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that a joint security team led by the Nigeria Police Force dismantled a bandit network in Kogi forests after a midnight encounter. Security sources said officers repelled a coordinated night attack during a clearance patrol, forcing the assailants to retreat with casualties.
