Two additional members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have called on their colleagues to withdraw the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Ngozi Odu.
Barile Nwakoh, representing Khana Constituency I, and Emilia Amadi of Obio/Akpor Constituency II, made the appeal two days after fellow lawmakers Sylvanus Eyinna Nwankwo and Peter Abbey publicly urged restraint, dialogue, and alternative solutions to the political standoff.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Nwankwo, the Minority Leader and representative of Omuma State Constituency, noted that leaders both within and outside Rivers State had appealed for leniency, encouraging lawmakers to explore peaceful resolutions.
Abbey, representing Degema State Constituency, acknowledged that while the governor may have breached constitutional provisions, mistakes can happen and it is the governor’s responsibility to ensure such breaches do not recur in the future.
