Police invite Rivers Ex-SSG over alleged plot to assassinate Wike

The Rivers State Police Command has invited a former Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, for questioning over an alleged plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The invitation followed a leaked phone conversation involving Danagogo and an arrested suspect, although the police invitation letter did not state the reason for the summons. An anonymous source claimed the invitation was connected to the leaked call, alleging that discussions were held on a plan targeting the minister. “Danagogo and Pastor Tombari were talking about the plot to invite Israelis to come and kill the Minister,” the source alleged, adding that “the leaked phone conversation is with the police and he has been invited for questioning.”

When contacted, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringo Koko, said she would verify the development and respond. “Let me confirm and I will get back to you,” she told DAILY POST. The police had earlier arrested a Port Harcourt-based pastor, Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, over an alleged plan to assassinate Wike after authorities intercepted a phone call between him and Danagogo. According to reports, the monitored conversation included discussions about recruiting Israeli nationals to carry out the attack and ended with a proposal to seek financial support from Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, to fund the alleged operation.
