The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced a 5.6% average increase in premium processing fees for all immigration application categories, effective March 1, 2026. The fee hike is aimed at protecting the agency’s budget from rising inflation and will affect thousands of businesses and individuals seeking expedited processing for work permits, residency petitions, and student visas.
Under the USCIS Stabilisation Act, the government is authorized to review and adjust fees every two years to maintain the real dollar value of immigration services. A spokesperson for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said the increase is necessary to strengthen service delivery, reduce processing backlogs, and fund essential naturalization programs, ensuring the efficient functioning of the country’s immigration system.
