Wizkid makes history as first African artist to top 10 billion Spotify streams

Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has made history as the first African artist to surpass ten billion streams on the global music streaming platform, Spotify. The Ojuelegba crooner reached the milestone as his cumulative streams across all credits on the platform recently hit the 10 billion mark. His collaboration with Canadian superstar Drake and British singer Tyla is his most streamed song, amassing nearly four billion streams, while his third studio album, Made In Lagos Deluxe, has become his most streamed project with over a billion streams.

As a lead artist, Wizkid’s most streamed track is Essence featuring Tems, which has recorded more than 333 million streams. In a separate milestone on Spotify, American singer Billie Eilish’s Birds of a Feather recently surpassed Tones and I’s Dance Monkey to become the most streamed solo song by a female artist, hitting 3.37 billion streams compared to Dance Monkey’s 3.3 billion.
