Marketers increase petrol prices over planned Dangote Refinery maintenance

Several petroleum products depot owners and marketers in Nigeria have increased ex-depot petrol prices following reports of a planned shutdown of the Dangote Refinery’s petrol unit for maintenance and upgrades.

A check by Daily Post on Saturday showed that major depots, including Ranoil, Optima, and AYM Shafa, are now selling petrol at around N800 per litre, up from between N740 and N780, while Dangote and Aiteo sold at N702 and N740 per litre, respectively.

The price hike has been linked to the reported turnaround maintenance at the Dangote Refinery. Speaking on the plan, Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries, said, as reported by Platts (S&P Global): “In most departments, our production levels have gone beyond 100 percent. We just need to remove constraints to raise overall output.”

Meanwhile, retail fuel prices ranged between N739 and N910 per litre across major filling stations nationwide as of Saturday afternoon.
