At least seven farmers have been confirmed dead following a fresh attack on Bum community in Chugwi, Vwang District of Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State. Residents said the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday while most villagers were asleep, throwing the community into panic.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, the spokesperson of the Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, said the bodies of the victims had been recovered while search and rescue operations were still ongoing. He added that the attack took place despite earlier security alerts indicating that several communities in Jos South Local Government Area were under threat of possible attacks. Authorities were yet to issue an official statement at the time of filing this report.
