Wike says Rivers will “correct leadership mistake” in 2027

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Rivers State will “correct the leadership mistake” made at the state level in the 2027 elections.

Wike made the remark during a thank-you visit to Khana in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, stating that leaders are elected to reflect the will of the people, not personal interests. “We will not make the same mistake again at the state level in 2027. When the time comes, we will talk about it. Just follow your leaders. Anywhere you see them going, that is where we are going,” he said.

He added that his visit was not politically motivated but to appreciate the community for supporting him and President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections.

Meanwhile, the National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South South, Victor Giadom, said Governor Siminalayi Fubara must work with Wike to succeed politically in Rivers State.

Speaking during Wike’s thank-you visit to Gokana Local Government Area, Giadom described the minister as a “dependable leader” and insisted that “there would be no political force in Gokana other than Wike.”

He maintained that the minister remains central to political calculations in the state.
