Shamans in Peru have predicted illness for U.S. President Trump and the downfall of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro during an annual New Year ritual held on a beach in southern Lima, according to a report from Reuters. Wearing colourful ponchos and performing ceremonies that involved incense, flowers and symbolic gestures over posters of global leaders, the shamans said the coming year would bring major political and personal upheavals. “The United States should prepare itself because Donald Trump will fall seriously ill,” said shaman Juan de Dios Garcia as the ritual took place on Monday.
The shamans also forecast the defeat and exile of Venezuela’s leader, with Garcia saying, “We see Nicolas Maduro defeated. Nicolas Maduro will flee Venezuela. He will not be captured.” In addition, they predicted an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine, declaring, “I see that the conflict will end, they will raise the flag of peace.” On Peru’s domestic politics, Garcia said opposition figure Keiko Fujimori would win the country’s 2026 presidential election, stating, “The woman who dreams of ruling Peru, I have been able to see through the wachuma (ancestral plant) that Keiko Fujimori will be president in 2026.” The ceremony is held annually in late December, though similar predictions in previous years have not materialised.
