The Ogun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Ode on Monday refused to grant an interim injunction sought by Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1, to stop the selection and installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
Justice A. A. Omoniyi held that the application lacked merit and failed to disclose strong grounds for its grant.
Ayinde, represented by Wahab Shittu (SAN), had asked the court to restrain Governor Dapo Abiodun and five others from proceeding with the Awujale selection pending the determination of his substantive suit. The judge dismissed the request but ordered an expedited hearing of the main case, fixing January 14, 2026, for proceedings.
KWAM1, who declared interest in the vacant Awujale stool, claims lineage from the Jadiara Royal House of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, a claim rejected by the ruling house. He sued the Fusengbuwa ruling house, the governor, Ijebu-Ode Local Government officials and others, urging the court to restrain them from taking steps in the installation process “pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.”
