The Peoples Democratic Party has expressed readiness to hand Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, its governorship ticket for the 2027 election should he defect to the party.
The Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, disclosed this while speaking on the party’s strategy ahead of the next general elections.
Wabara described Otti as a formidable political figure whose performance in office has earned admiration across party lines. “If he makes up his mind to join the Big Umbrella, the party will not hesitate to give him the governorship ticket in 2027,” he said on Sunday in Umuahia during the unveiling of Abia State’s 25-Year Development Plan.
The former Senate President said Otti’s achievements have made him attractive to several political parties, adding that the PDP is repositioning to regain credibility ahead of 2027.
He noted that the South-East remains a stronghold of the party and that Otti’s defection would significantly boost its influence in the region.
