No fewer than 42 Nigerians have been deported from Ghana’s Ashanti Region following court rulings over alleged prostitution, fraud and related offences.
The development was disclosed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, in a Facebook post on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Amoakohene said other deportees included 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe nationals and seven Benin nationals, bringing the total number of affected persons to 68. “A total of 42 Nigerians, 13 Cameroonians, 3 Ivorians, 3 Burkinabe nationals, and 7 Benin nationals have been deported,” he stated.
He commended the Ghana Immigration Service for enforcing immigration laws while upholding due process and human dignity.
The deportations come amid increased scrutiny of Nigerians abroad, following recent arrests of Nigerians in India linked to a transnational narcotics and money-laundering network.
