Awujale: KWAM 1’s Fidipote house lays claim to stool, faults Fusengbuwa over missed deadline

The Fidipote Ruling House of Ijebu Ode has written to the Ijebu Ode Local Government and the Ogun State Government, seeking to overturn the right of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House to present candidates for the vacant Awujale stool. The request was contained in a two-page letter addressed to the council secretary and made available to PUNCH Online on Wednesday.

Co-signed by Oba Tajudeen Omotayo and Omooba Tunde Aderibigbe, the letter stated that Fusengbuwa failed to submit candidates within the 14 days prescribed by the Ogun State Chieftaincy Law, 2021. It added that the statutory period lapsed on December 16, 2025, thereby transferring the right of nomination to the Fidipote Ruling House.

“By virtue of Section 16(1)(c) of the Ogun State Chieftaincy Law, 2021… the next ruling house entitled under the order of rotation becomes legally entitled to present candidate(s),” the letter read. The family informed authorities of plans to hold a general meeting on December 20 to screen and select candidates, assuring a peaceful and lawful process.
