Renowned filmmaker Lere Paimo, popularly known as “Eda Onile Ola,” has called on Governor Seyi Makinde and the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, for help. He claims powerful individuals are attempting to remake his classic film “Ogbori Elemosho” without his permission, which he calls a pivotal work that earned him national recognition and a chieftaincy title.
Paimo alleges a group visited him in October 2025, stating they had the Soun of Ogbomoso’s approval to remake the film and did not need his permission. They paid N7.5 million into his account, which he returned on his children’s advice. His lawyers issued a cease-and-desist letter, but he says the parties insist they have the monarch’s backing and have threatened that legal action will not help him.
“This work was meant to be a benefit to my children and me, but powerful individuals are attempting to take it away from me,” Paimo stated. The Soun’s PRO, Peter Olaleye, said it was an “in-house matter,” noting the new story is not Paimo’s and that every child of Ogbomoso is entitled to the tale.
