Massive weapons haul recovered in Kogi operation

A decisive joint security operation in Kogi State has led to the discovery of a massive cache of arms and ammunition from criminal hideouts, Governor Usman Ododo announced. The governor credited the successful raid to over a week of sustained, intelligence-driven surveillance by agencies working with the state government. He stated the aggressive crackdown was galvanized after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

“When I met Mr. President, I expected commendation, but he told me to go back and do more for my people. That statement re-energised me,” Ododo told reporters in Lokoja. Security operatives executed a coordinated overnight operation, uncovering a major criminal enclave and a significant stockpile of concealed weapons. While no arrests were made, the governor described the recovery as a strategic breakthrough.

Ododo attributed persistent criminality to Kogi’s strategic geography, sharing boundaries with ten states. He vowed an unrelenting fight, asserting, “We will never bow to criminals, and we will never negotiate with them.” The governor called on residents to provide credible information to security agencies and assured the public that the situation was under control, urging citizens to go about their lawful businesses without fear.
