Hollywood director Rob Reiner (78) and his wife, photographer Michele Singer (68), were found murdered Sunday in their Brentwood, California, home. Authorities now believe the couple, reportedly stabbed to death, had their throats slit by a family member. Rumors quickly spread about the questioning of the Reiners’ grown children in connection with the horrific double homicide.
Reports from TMZ and People Magazine quickly focused on the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick, a person with a documented history of substance abuse issues. TMZ reports a daughter who found the bodies told police a family member had killed them, adding the person “should be a suspect” because they are “dangerous.” LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton confirmed investigators are interviewing all family members.
“We’re going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation,” said Hamilton. Police have not yet confirmed the victims’ identities or made any arrests, but the Reiner family confirmed the tragic deaths. As authorities interview relatives, there are currently no reports of an active search for a suspect who may be on the loose.
