I do not seek to be Olubadan of Yorubaland or Oyo — Ladoja

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has declared that his authority is strictly limited to Ibadanland, in line with existing laws. Speaking at a coronation luncheon in Ibadan on Sunday, the monarch said his jurisdiction covers only the 11 local government areas recognised by the Oyo State Chiefs Law.

“I do not want to be Olubadan of Yorubaland or Olubadan of Oyo State,” Oba Ladoja said, noting that he has sufficient responsibilities within Ibadanland. The event, organised by the Ibadan Foundation at Kakanfo Hotel, drew prominent Ibadan indigenes, traditional chiefs, and members of the Iyalode-in-Council.

The monarch identified land administration, security, infrastructure, and economic revival as priorities. “When people protested against the Circular Road project, my house was their first port of call,” he said, adding that anti-land-grabbing measures, security collaboration, and an economic committee have been set up to address the city’s challenges.
