President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerian youths to embrace creativity, innovation, and ambition during the unveiling of the Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA GIGS) platform in Abuja. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu stressed the importance of resilience and visionary thinking in a technology-driven world, assuring that his administration will support young people’s innovative pursuits and expand opportunities nationally and internationally. “Youths are the heartbeat of our developmental agenda,” he said.
The initiative, themed “One Youth, Two Skills,” will provide grants to 300 youths 200 from the formal sector and 100 from the informal sector to boost their entrepreneurial ventures. Tinubu highlighted regulatory reforms to ease small-business burdens and expand access to credit, emphasizing the gig economy and digital outsourcing. “With the launch of NIYA GIGS, we are linking skills to markets, ideas to capital, and young people to real prosperity,” he said.
