French President Emmanuel Macron has said he spoke with President Bola Tinubu regarding worsening security challenges in Northern Nigeria. Macron disclosed on X that the discussion focused on terrorism and France’s readiness to stand in solidarity with Nigeria. He added that France would strengthen its partnership with Nigerian authorities and provide support to affected communities.
Macron urged international partners to increase their engagement against terrorism, stressing that “no one can remain a spectator.” He wrote, “I conveyed France’s solidarity in the face of the various security challenges… At his request, we will strengthen our partnership with the authorities and our support for the affected populations.” The French leader reiterated the need for collective action against extremist threats.
