The African Democratic Congress has urged 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to decide whether he intends to join the party, dismissing claims that zoning disputes were weakening its coalition.
ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi said the group remains focused on building credibility ahead of the 2027 election rather than power-sharing arrangements. He stated, “We’re not talking about zoning or no zoning now… zoning or no zoning is not on the table now.”
Abdullahi encouraged Obi to clarify his political direction, adding, “I will encourage him to make up his mind if he wants to be part of the coalition or not.”
He rejected Obi’s description of the coalition as unstable, insisting, “We are stable. Within five months, we have offices in 27 or 28 states without a single political officeholder.” He also invited Obi to actively join efforts to build the party in Anambra State and nationwide.
