The apex court dismissed a suit filed by the Osun State Government regarding allocations to sacked council chairmen, citing the state’s lack of legal capacity.
The court affirmed local governments as autonomous constitutional entities that must file such actions themselves. Oyetola described the ruling as a victory for democracy and the rule of law, reinforcing constitutionalism and due process.
