Nigeria customs seizes Brazilian vessel MV San Anthonio for 25.5kg cocaine cargo.

The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Command, on Saturday seized a Brazilian vessel, MV San Anthonio, after intercepting 25.5kg of cocaine concealed in 24 parcels aboard the ship at Apapa port in Lagos. The drugs, packed in five bags, were discovered through intelligence-led checks. Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba described the interception as a product of strong collaboration between the Customs Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Oshoba said the ship sailed from Brazil and later called at Honduras, Guatemala and other drug-linked ports before arriving in Nigeria. The controller, while handing the drugs to the NDLEA, reiterated Customs’ commitment to curbing unlawful trade. “This seizure and detention of the ship should send strong message of warning,” he stated, adding that security will not be compromised during the Yuletide as consignments must be thoroughly examined.
