The Nigeria Police Force has deployed a Special Enforcement Team to ensure compliance with President Bola Tinubu’s order to withdraw police escorts from VIPs. Commencing December 6, 2025, in Lagos, the operation found satisfactory adherence to the directive, with no unauthorized deployments or arrests.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun confirmed the Force’s commitment to reassigning personnel to core policing duties. VIP protection will now be handled by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, aiming to enhance national security.
