A presidential aide has explained that tracking bandits is difficult because they use foreign internet and cellular services like Starlink, which are beyond the reach of Nigerian security agencies and regulators.
The issue is compounded by rising insecurity, as terrorists and bandits increasingly use social media platforms such as TikTok for propaganda, recruitment, and to flaunt the proceeds of their criminal activities.
