The Ekiti State Police Command has reaffirmed the ban on fireworks ahead of the Yuletide season. SP Sunday Abutu, the command’s spokesperson, stated in Ado-Ekiti that using, selling, or displaying fireworks would lead to arrest and prosecution.
The police explained the ban aims to prevent criminals from exploiting the festive period and to avoid public panic from sounds mistaken for gunshots. They also cited health and safety risks, urging community leaders to ensure compliance.
