The Supreme Court dismissed a suit by the Osun State Government against the federal government regarding withheld local government funds. State Attorney General Oluwole Jimi-Bada filed the case, challenging the federal government’s retention of the allocations.
The court ruled that Mr. Jimi-Bada lacked legal standing, as only local governments can sue directly. While acknowledging the federal government improperly withheld funds, the majority found a procedural flaw in the attorney general’s representation.
