Nigerians are sharply divided after viral figure Auntie Esther, widely known as “Pepper Girl,” rejected a lifesaving blood transfusion despite millions donated for her cancer treatment.
Fundraiser coordinator Sir Dickson revealed she declined the procedure due to her Jehovah’s Witness faith, saying, “She was offered the option of blood transfusion… but she declined due to her faith.” He added that although the alternative treatment “will take longer and cost more, we have to respect her religious belief.”
Confirming her diagnosis online, Esther insisted on sticking to injections and dietary support, stating, “I respect everyone opinion but I and my family choose the injection and food dat go boost my blood.”
The decision has triggered intense debate on social media, with critics accusing her of misusing public donations and supporters defending her right to choose. Concerns persist as she prepares for chemotherapy under a slower, costlier treatment plan.
