Burkina Faso’s Traoré receives first AES identity card

Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré received the inaugural Alliance of Sahel States (AES) biometric identity card. This action highlights the bloc’s commitment to regional integration and establishes a new identification standard for its members.

The ten-year valid ID features international security standards. It also signifies the AES’s shift from ECOWAS, with a five-year transition period planned for phasing out older identification documents across the region.
