Tinubu’s emergency won’t work without prosecuting saboteurs – Amachree

Former DSS Director Dennis Amachree has stressed that President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide security emergency will only be effective if financiers and saboteurs of insecurity are arrested and prosecuted. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Amachree said, “I think there is need that for this state of emergency to be more effective, there should be arrests. Let us not just mention that these people have been identified as financiers and we’ve not seen any arrest.”

Amachree highlighted sabotage within the security architecture, including the killing of Major General Musa Uba and military withdrawal reports prior to the Kebbi schoolgirls’ kidnapping. “We need to also rein in the financiers and the supporters,” he added. He insisted that concrete actions must accompany government declarations, noting, “It’s not just a situation where you are threatening the country and then nothing is happening to you and you just move on.”
