The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) committed to making digital spaces safer, especially for women and girls, addressing digital violence as a real-world threat. At their sixth annual summit in Abuja, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, represented by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, declared it a moral and governance priority. He emphasized strengthening cybercrime laws and promoting digital literacy.
Kwara First Lady Olufolake AbdulRazaq highlighted the rising misuse of digital technologies, fueling violence against women and girls. She advocated for digital platforms to be spaces of empowerment, not harm, underscoring the need for a collective approach to tackle online abuse, harassment, and misinformation. The NGSF previously influenced an SGBV state of emergency in 2020.
