Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he feels secure in Nigeria despite negative reports he read before his trip. Speaking at the Imo State Economic Summit 2025 in Owerri on Thursday, he said: “There may be some security problems in Nigeria… And I said, ‘Well, I am going to go anyway.’” He added, “We all feel safe. And I feel perfectly safe.”
Johnson also commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for efforts to provide 24-hour electricity as part of Imo’s economic transformation agenda. He said artificial intelligence would be crucial to achieving that goal, describing the technology as the future.
