Borno State Police arrested five suspects, including Mustapha Mohammed, an uncle, for abducting his eight-year-old niece in Maiduguri. The girl was drugged, and a ₦3 million ransom was paid via cryptocurrency. The arrests, led by the Police Crack Squad, occurred between November 29 and December 4, 2025.
The abduction occurred on November 4, 2025, with the girl released on November 7 after ransom payment. Suspects, including Ismail Shuaibu and Amina Ibrahim, are believed to have held her in a hotel. Investigation continues to recover the ransom and identify other accomplices.
