The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan has unveiled new irrigation systems and research farm equipment. This initiative, funded by Crops to End Hunger (CtEH), aims to accelerate the development and delivery of improved crop varieties to farmers in Nigeria and Africa.

IITA Director-General Simeon Ehui stated the infrastructure would enhance breeding trials, enable year-round research, and boost efficiency. Other officials, including Roel Merckx and Alick Mulenga, highlighted the equipment’s role in addressing mechanization challenges, improving water access, and increasing crop yields.
