Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Communications and Public Affairs Manager for West Africa, noted that the results highlight how “central political discourse was throughout the year” and reflect Nigerians’ active engagement with the world.
Beyond the top personalities, the report highlighted a strong mix of local and global interests, with names like Governor Sim Fubara and Chika Ike drawing attention, alongside international figures and emerging tech like the iPhone 17. Word meanings, such as Achalugo and Labubu, were also popular queries. Furthermore, tragic events and cultural moments spurred searches, including the deaths of notable figures like Buhari and Pope Francis, demonstrating a wide range of topics that truly captured Nigerians’ collective attention.
