Nnamdi Kanu seeks correctional center transfer, court hears motion

The Federal High Court in Abuja will hear Nnamdi Kanu’s motion to transfer him from Sokoto Correctional Facility to a center closer to Abuja on December 8. Kanu, convicted for terrorism on November 20, seeks this move to facilitate his appeal, citing the difficulty of preparing legal documents and interacting with his support network from Sokoto.

Justice James Omotosho declined to hear Kanu’s non-lawyer brother, Prince Emmanuel, stressing that only legal counsel can present such motions. The judge also clarified that a convict’s physical presence is not required to compile appeal records, advising Kanu to secure qualified legal representation.
