Google has released Nigeria’s 2025 Year in Search report, highlighting the political events, personalities, entertainment moments, and cultural trends that drove nationwide curiosity. According to the data, Senator Natasha Akpoti ranked as the most searched Nigerian personality, while global issues such as the Israel–Iran conflict and the U.S. elections drew major public attention. Searches also spiked following the deaths of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Peter Rufai, and Pope Francis.
Entertainment and lifestyle topics dominated the platform, with ‘Oluwatosin (Jesus Is Enough)’ emerging as the most searched song and To Kill a Monkey leading local series. Nigerians also looked up viral slang, recipes, and lifestyle trends, including “What is Labubu?” and “Achalugo meaning.” “The 2025 Year in Search is more than just data; it’s a vibrant, unfiltered mirror of our collective attention,” said Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade.
