Polymarket founder becomes one of world’s youngest billionaires at 27.

A $2 billion investment from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) valued Polymarket at $9 billion and catapulted its 27-year-old founder Shayne Coplan into the ranks of the world’s youngest self-made billionaires.

Once started from his New York apartment in 2020, Polymarket — a blockchain-based prediction market platform — has now soared to a $9 billion valuation after ICE’s $2 billion strategic investment
Coplan’s roughly 11% stake in Polymarket is now worth over $1 billion, making him one of the youngest self-made billionaires on the planet at age 27.

Despite facing past regulatory hurdles — including a 2022 fine and an FBI raid — Polymarket has rebounded, acquired a CFTC-licensed exchange, and is now positioning itself to bring prediction markets into the mainstream of finance.
