Nigerians in Lagos should feel safe, says Police

Lagos police commissioner Olohundare Jimoh has declared the state safe, citing expanded covert and overt operations, new tactical units, and strengthened deployments across land and waterways to deter crime during the festive season, insisting “There is no area we cannot penetrate.”

Lagos police commissioner Olohundare Jimoh has assured residents that the state is “safe and secure,” highlighting expanded covert and overt operations across all divisions and the deployment of the new Eko Strike Force to bolster rapid response efforts. Speaking in Ikeja, he said the unit complements the Rapid Response Squad and has already produced results in areas such as Mushin, Akala, Olorunsogo, and Sangotedo, adding, “There is no area we cannot penetrate. Anyone attempting a crime in Lagos will be arrested and prosecuted.” Mr Jimoh noted increased tactical bases, 57 task-force units statewide, and strengthened marine security with 26 gunboats and a new Submarine Tactical Task Force. He said crime levels remain low and that intensified deployments would continue throughout the festive season, while urging journalists to support public confidence, stressing, “Journalists are vital partners in sustaining security and public confidence.”
