I do not believe for a second that the Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG, under the illegal IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has any intention of withdrawing police officers from VIPs.
This latest announcement is nothing more than a Christmas bonanza for the police hierarchy; the VIPs will double or even quadruple the “Christmas hampers” they give to officers in charge, and the cycle of preferential treatment will continue.
Tinubu @offficialabat is not serious about the Nigeria Police reforming or redeeming itself; otherwise, he would never have granted an illegal tenure extension to Egbetokun, who is clearly incompetent.
Suppose the government truly wants Nigerians to take this claim of withdrawal of police attachment to VIPs seriously, it must begin with transparency, the police must be forced to publish the complete list of VIPs currently enjoying police protection, state clearly how many officers are assigned to each individual or VIP groups, estates, companies, concubines, side chicks, and wherever, and publicly reassign those officers back to real police work across the country.
Until that happens, this remains nothing but another dishonest pronouncement.
