The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is facing allegations of exam fraud after an absentee student, “Achusim Stephanie,” was listed as having passed despite not writing the test.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has been accused of manipulating its computer-based exams in Delta State after an absentee candidate, “Achusim Stephanie,” who was reportedly receiving medical treatment and “did not enter the hall or write any of the 3 papers,” was listed as having passed and even emerged number one.
Multiple sources told SaharaReporters that only six students who actually sat for the exam passed while 58 failed, prompting concerns about bias, irregularities and result tampering. Aggrieved students said, “A candidate who did not sit for the exam was recorded as Passed,” and demanded a “re-verification of attendance records and an investigation into how a non-participant could have a ‘Pass’ outcome.”
The incident adds to a pattern of alleged corruption and manipulation in Nigerian nursing colleges, with stakeholders calling for urgent accountability and transparency reforms.
